When to go

  1. February–April

The driest, sunniest stretch; February and March are among the driest months. Chinese New Year can close much of the city for two days, so plan meals ahead.

  2. June–September

Southwest Monsoon months, relatively dry but with a small risk of haze from Indonesia. National Day falls in August and the Great Singapore Sale runs mid-year.

  3. October–January

Short, sharp inter-monsoon showers, then the wettest period from November, though downpours often pass quickly. Orchard Road has its Christmas light-up.

Practical tips

  • Tap a contactless bank card or phone at MRT gates for normal distance-based fares; foreign cards add a small daily admin fee.
  • The Singapore Tourist Pass is sold at Changi Airport MRT, Terminals 2 and 3, and Orchard Station, but card fares are often better value for a few trips.
  • From Terminal 1 or 4, take the free Skytrain or shuttle bus to Terminal 3 to reach Changi Airport MRT station.
  • Leave chewing gum at home and avoid littering, jaywalking or eating on public transport, as fines apply to tourists.
  • Some business-district hawker centres cater to weekday office lunches and can be almost completely closed at weekends.
